F.A.Q. - English version

What are Bubble Dolls?
More than rag dolls, they are pet characters for kids, and especially, adults

Why are they called rag monsters?
They were supposed to be rag dolls, but they turned out to be little monsters, hence the name rag monsters.

Why the name Bubble Dolls?
Bubble Doll is a tribute to my Auntie Lena, Portuguese teacher for years at Colégio Anchieta (Anchieta High School), in Porto Alegre, who with her exemplary command of the Portuguese language, liked to call opposers by her utmost swear word: “seu bolha!” (“You bubble!” – outdated Portuguese slang meaning something like: weakling, pushover, etc.).

What are they for?
They can be decorative, merely illustrative, pets, or simply for tossing up into the air and catching again. They are also good for purely stimulating the debate around the question: “What are they good for?”. The most functional model is Balloon Head, which can be used as a pillow during flights.

Does each doll have a different name?
Yes, each doll is baptized with a name and an inspiration. Each doll comes with a tag that tells its story. www.bubbledolls.org has mini-stories that reveal details of each character´s life.

Where can I find them?
At the Yo Soy Tu Infierno Bazars, in São Paulo. And on the website: www.bubbledolls.org.

What is the Yo Soy Tu Infierno Bazar?
Yo Soy Tu Infierno is a bazar that concentrates the work of fashion designers, plastic artists and friends. It will be hosted again on December 10, in São Paulo.

How do I buy a Bubble Doll?
Choose your favorite one and send an email to bubbledolls@gmail.com.

How much does a Bubble Doll cost?
Each doll costs R$ 55, (approximately U$24) except for the occasional, super-special doll. Shipping details and cost to be arranged.

Who makes the Bubble Dolls?
Bubble Dolls are created, developed, produced, executed, sewn and perfumed by Francesca Sperb, an almost 30-year old journalist, buddhist and now, doll maker.

What are Bubble Dolls made of?
Patches, chintz, beach towels, jeans, animal prints, reliefs, stripes, imported fiber stuffing and droplets of L’Occitane essential oil. Friends and colleagues of the Yo Soy Tu Infierno bazar, Bia Villarinho and Emilie are great patch suppliers, to whom I hereby, publicly, profess my gratitude. This leads me to also thank my friend Pier, who enabled my first contact with a sewing machine. Mica and Luana, thank you girls, for the support, the company and for sharing the idea. Thank you Karina, true friend, an essential helping hand at all times. Thanks Garb for staying by my side, for your beautiful words and for your faith in me.

Is it true that the dolls smell nice?
Yes, they´re all perfumed with L’Occitane essential oils.

Why don´t they ever have complete faces, with a nose, ears, eyes and a mouth?
I don´t know.
But Manu said that Rosa Pomar (two great inspirations to me) answers the question like this: "As happens with the Waldorf toys, my dolls generally have very simple features so that when playing, children can use their imagination to attribute different moods and emotions to them."

Is it true that a part of profits is reverted to a good cause?
Yes, part of the profits from Bubble Dolls sales is reverted to the construction of the Odsal Ling Tibetan Buddhist Temple, in São Paulo. Go further: www.budismotibetano.com.br
